Enrollment Information for Residents of Woodbury

What Schools are assigned to serve Woodbury residents?
Until a new elementary and a new middle school are built in Woodbury, Woodbury residents will be served as follows:

How do I enroll, and what documents are required?

Where shall Woodbury residents enroll between now and the opening of the New Elementary School?
In order to assure a smooth transition, Woodbury residents may enroll at the existing El Camino Real School located just south of Interstate 5 at 4782 Karen Ann Lane (near Yale and Walnut). More information is available on the Woodbury website
Woodbury residents may also enroll temporarily at nearby Northwood Elementary or other schools in the district under our Open Enrollment Policy as long as seats are available. IUSD approval of enrollment at a school other than the assigned school is for one year and is reviewed each year.  If parents enroll their child in an unassigned school, the parents must provide transportation for their child.

Will a student be permitted to continue at another school when the new school in Woodbury opens?
When the new school opens, the district will reserve the right to require all residents of Woodbury in Kindergarten through Grade 3 to transfer to El Camino Real, if they are enrolled in an elementary school north of Interstate 5. This may be necessary in order to make room for additional new residents in the Northern Sphere who will not yet have their own neighborhood school, or to make room for students who are assigned to that particular school. No such move is contemplated for students in grades 4-6 at the time of relocation. In this regard, it is worth noting that continuity in the same school can be guaranteed only if student in K-3 are enrolled at El Camino Real during the 06-07 school year.

When will the New Elementary School in Woodbury Open?
El Camino Real School is scheduled to relocate to its new school facility by the fall 2007. More information on the new school is accessible in Frequently Asked Questions.

What will happen to sixth graders when ECR transitions to a K-5 school?
See Frequently Asked Questions.

Will there be bussing to the current El Camino Real location?
Transportation may be provided where there is sufficient ridership to operate a bus on a cost-neutral basis.  A transportation fee will be determined. See Frequently Asked Questions.

When is the new middle school in Woodbury expected to open?
A middle school serving grades 6-8 is expected to open in Woodbury in 2009, but may open as late as 2010 depending on enrollment. The school will be located near the corner of Jeffrey and Trabuco.

Will open enrollment opportunities be available for middle and high school students?
It is expected that limited open enrollment opportunities may be available at Venado Middle School. Open enrollment opportunities at the high school level, if available at all, will be at University High School. Click here for current information.
