Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to the 2012 - 2013 School Year! We hope you all enjoyed a wonderful summer break and are eager for a new school year to begin. Each year, the ending of one school year and the opening of a new school year brings with it many transitions for children, families and staff. It represents a time of closure and new beginnings filled with hope and opportunities yet to unfold.
This year we open our doors with several new staff members, replacing those who have either retired or moved on to promising new opportunities. Please join me in welcoming our newest Education Specialists: Ashley Secrist, Michelle, Pakingan, Julia Pooley, Michelle Grunwald, and Laura Risse. In addition, our new Early Learning Specialist, Julie DeLorenzo, will provide direct oversight to the School Readiness Program and Christina Persico will be our new psychologist.
For the 2012-2013 school-year, ECLC will continue to focus on the following initiatives:
Social Emotional Development
Language and Literacy Development
Student safety and building security
Please be sure to visit our site regularly, www.iusd.org/eclc, to find up-to-date information about ECLC and upcoming events! Additionally, our web-site offers a large amount of resources to enable families to support the early skill development of preschool children in a variety of ways.
I encourage each of you to become a member of our wonderful PTA (Parent Teacher Association). PTA provides resources to support all of our students, teachers and programs at ECLC. This year, through effective fund raising efforts, PTA supported emergency preparedness; multiple assemblies; book fairs; teacher and staff appreciation days; hospitality for parent education workshops; back-to-school and open-house nights; technology purchases and instructional supplies. Please look for information throughout the year regarding ways to participate and get involved in the ECLC PTA.
On behalf of the ECLC staff, we look forward to a fabulous year of learning for all!
