Bullying / Cyber-bullying

Creekside High School takes bullying very seriously. We teach students the values of integrity, mutual respect, personal and social responsibility, and compassion and expect demonstrations of those values on and off campus. Furthermore, every student has a right to come to a school in a hostile free environment.

Students who feel they are subject to bullying are encouraged come speak to a counselor, administrator, teacher or any adult on campus. The school is equipped to help, but needs to know in order to address issues that arise.

How can I help my child stay healthy during the cold/flu season?

Influenza activity is increasing in Orange County. It is not too late to get vaccinated against influenza. Influenza vaccine is available throughout the County. For publicly funded vaccine clinics, see www.ochealthinfo.com/flu. For retail locations, see the Flu Vaccine Finder at www.flu.gov. Persons with influenza-like illness should stay home from work or school until their fever has resolved for at least 24 hours.  Don't forget to cover your cough and wash your hands!

Four Creekside students were recently honored during a luncheon at the Irvine Marriott sponsored by the Irvine Exchange Club.

Receiving the award for Creekside this fall:

  • Barbara Beltran
  • Mathew Bates
  • Bronson Clary
  • Allen Liu

A.C.E. stands for Accepting the Challenge of Excellence. This program recognizes high school students who have made a dramatic change in their attitude and performance during their high school years. These changes have enabled the students to overcome adversities and prepare for graduation. Clubs may also submit their top A.C.E. Award winner to the district competition. Winners at the district level then have an opportunity to compete for the National A.C.E. Award.

Congratulations!!

Student Mock Election

The MyVote California Student Mock Election helps young people discover the importance of elections and the power of their votes in our democracy. It gives high school and middle school students firsthand experience with the electoral process by giving them a chance to make their voices heard on the candidates and issues important tothem and their families.

On Tuesday, October 30th, Creekside High School students, under the direction of Mr. Chabot, participated in My Vote: Mock Election held statewide for all students in High School. Students voted on the propositions as well as the president/senator election. Elections were held in the MPR all day, with students voting in their English classes. A team of Mock Election Committee members (student volunteers) ran the polls in the MPR to give our student voters an authentic voting experience.

Garden Project

Thanks to a grant from the Whole Kids Foundation and the City of Irvine Afterschool Leadership Program under the leadership of Alvia, and the IUSD grounds department (thanks Andy!), what was once an idea to create a school learning garden to teach students about nutrition, sustainable farming practices, and the science behind gardening has become a reality. We are starting our first planting with a salsa garden. Our goal is to expand the garden to include fruit trees, flowers, and to add fencing around the plots to prevent our friendly rabbit population from helping themselves.

Pertussis Vaccine Requirement

A new California law requires students entering grades seven through 12 to get immunized with a booster shot for pertussis, commonly referred to as “whooping cough.”

In response to a national epidemic, the state passed Assembly Bill 354 back in 2010, mandating that children 10 years and older show proof that they’ve recently received a pertussis vaccination called “Tdap,” which includes boosters for tetanus and diphtheria. Adults are also advised to get the shot if they haven’t already – particularly if they’re around infants.
